Battling a 100-plus pound tarpon is one of the most exciting experiences an angler can have in the Florida Keys. But landing a massive, trophy-sized tarpon is all about timing. That is why Captain Kevin only runs this trip from April through July, when the annual migration, spawn season, water temperature, and weather all line up to make something magical happen.
Huge tarpon hide in the shadows of bridges and pylons, waiting for currents to force smaller fish and worms through these bottlenecks for easy picking, and Captain Kevin knows exactly how to capitalize on this. He’ll take you out bright and early at 5 am to get the boat set up in the perfect spot and give you access to the best bite.
These incredible acrobatic fish can run and jump for hours once hooked. Landing a huge tarpon on light tackle is one of the most exciting and rewarding challenges for anglers in the Keys.
